Greetings, user! In this program you must help this population of Noids to survive. You will start with 20 noids, and you have to try to have your population survive and expand by the end of 20 years.
Starting off with setting the color of the noids. Try to pick a color that matches the background. This will help your noids camouflage and survive in the environment.
White noids:
Black noids:
Grey noids:
Next, lets set the roles of each noid.
The hunter role will hunt food for the noid population, hunting more or less depending on the current conditions. You will start out with 40 food in your storage. Each noid needs 1 food to survive. The hunter role has slight increased chance (10%) of death. (Marked blue)
The parent role will have 1 baby noid with another parent noid if there is enough resources (you need one spare food to have 1 baby noid). If there aren't, then the parent role doesn't do anything. (Marked pink)
Lastly, there is a 'none'/'unemployed' role. This role doesn't do anything. If you do not set the role of the Noids, they will have the 'none' role.
Use left and right arrow keys to select a noid. Press the down arrow key to change its role. (You may have to press it multiple times to get to the role you want)
Now, see how only the noids with the parent roles are on the screen. They are grouped into groups of 2, paired up with which noid they are going to have a baby noid with.
This matchmaking works as a 'first come first serve' meaning that if there is only enough resources for some of the noids to have baby noids, then it starts with who is first on the list, or in this case, the top left pair.
The only thing that baby noids inherit are their parent's colors. If you pair up two parent noids of the same color, that color is most likely to get passed on. If you pair up a black noid with a white noid, the baby noid will most likely be a grey noid. In rare cases, two noids can have a color that is opposite of what color they are. (Ex: two white noids having a black noid child.). This represents mutations and recessive traits.
If you would like to change who the noids are matched to, use the left and right arrow keys to move, and press the down arrow key to select a noid. Next, use the left and right arrow keys to move to the noid you want to switch out, and press the down arrow key again.
If you do not have any parent noids or are finished matchmaking, click the button to proceed.
Lastly, give your group a name! This could be your name, or a name you want to give to this clan/village/population of noids. This doesn't really do anything except show your name at the end screen. Press the start button when you are ready to start your first year!
